Maintaining a work life balance is so important. It’s all about separating your personal and professional lives without allowing one to encroach upon the other. Both are important, and neither should be neglected.

A good work-life balance works wonders for mental health and personal wellbeing- a topic that is really prevalent at the minute. Being too consumed in your work 24/7 is not good for your mind. A great way to maintain your mental health is to ensure that you are physically feeling healthy too… as the saying goes: healthy body, healthy mind! At Lenny we all recently took part in a midday functional pilates and meditation class at ROKT Brighouse. This was a great opportunity to switch off for an hour and left us all feeling refreshed and ready to complete the rest of our working day.

Putting aside the physical benefits, a strong work-life balance increases productivity. Employers want their team members to be hard working and productive, and whilst staying late for unnecessarily long hours every day might make you feel like you are contributing a lot, the quality of your work probably isn’t up to scratch!

A strong work-life balance also helps you become more rounded, and having interests outside of work increases your skillset as well as making you more interesting. This is something that most employers look for which is why its common practice to include a hobbies section on your CV and why a most interview questions involve ‘what do you enjoy doing in your spare time’

You only get one life after all, so live it to the fullest. You don’t want to get years down the line and and realise you’ve missed out.
