Trick or Treat
With consumer spend on Halloween rising each year, it’s hardly surprising brands are going all out to capture attention.
Last month the brand Marmite released two new limited-edition personalised Halloween jars; a ‘Halloween Trick’ to ‘petrify a marmite hater’ and A ‘Halloween Treat’ to ‘spoil a marmite lover’.
The drinks brand Fanta also got on board and Londoners were given the Halloween heebie-jeebies as a giant creepy crawly was spotted prowling the streets of the capital. Hidden cameras recorded reactions, as it was unleashed on the public and jumped out on passers-by.
It’s the last straw for IKEA
IKEA unveiled their ‘Last Straw’ installation last month in London’s Design Museum after they announced they are going to phase out all single-use plastic products from stores and restaurants by 2020.
The model is a reminder of our collective responsibility to strive for zero waste lifestyles and inspire the public to take small steps that will have a positive environmental impact.
Plastic straws are in the top 10 items found in beach clean ups, with the UK alone being responsible for the use of 8.5bn plastic straws a year.
To see that it has a lasting impact on the planet, IKEA calls for the nation to join the ‘Last Straw’ movement. They are encouraging people to share the small everyday actions they are taking to maintain a more sustainable life, using the hashtag #IKEALastStraw.
This is not a Sushi Bar
A new sushi restaurant has opened in Milan by brothers Matteo and Tommaso Pittarello which offers customers a discount dependant on their number of Instagram followers.
In order to redeem you must order a plate of food and then post a picture of the dish and tag the restaurant on Instagram. On the basis of how many followers they have, the next dish – and possibly more after that – will be free.
The duo hope the initiative will build social buzz for their new restaurant.
Anyone with 1-5k followers will get one free plate of sushi or sashimi. For 5-10k followers, there will be two plates, and eight plates will be free for people with up to 100k followers.
