With 49% of Instagram/Twitter users relying on recommendations from influencers and the fact influencer marketing brings a 10x rise in conversion rates, there’s no wonder that this trend will continue to boom in 2018.

Promoting your brand through an influencer allows you to quickly build trust. It’s also a great way to improve brand awareness, reach your target audience and enrich your content strategy.

Instagram Stories

 Instagram stories have over 200 million users, and it’s just over 1 year old. That’s more users than Snapchat. Well-played Facebook.

This ephemeral content is becoming increasingly popular amongst brands due to the high engagement it brings with it. Followers are met with authenticity as opposed to polished advertising, encouraging them to stay and be more involved. There’s also the FOMO that comes with content that only lasts 24hr – people don’t want to miss out.

The possibilities are endless here for brands to engage with their audiences and scrap the stiff and corporate posts.

Brand personality can be crafted using disposbale content and in turn, engement is earned.

Power of Live Streaming

Similarly to Instagram stories, live streaming provides a platform for a brand to show their authenticity and personality. 80% of consumers would rather watch a live video from a brand than read a blog, and 82% would prefer a live video to written social media.

It is no longer seen as a cool way to interact with consumers, but more of an expectation for a brand.

So put down your typing fingers, pick up a camera and get creative!

Augmented Reality & Virtual Reality

It’s been a long time coming but social media giants are already planning on somehow introducing AR and VR onto their platforms.

With augmented reality now existing on iPhone 8 and iPhone X, the potential for brands to hop onboard is very close on the horizon. Brands could potentially be able to project their products into homes using special filters, similar to BMW recently showing consumers what the X2 would look like in their drives without them having to visit the garage.

Chatbots & Artificial Intelligence

Over 2.5 billion people worldwide use messaging platforms. With the rise of messenger apps (Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp) comes the opportunity for increased customer service, however employing the manpower to respond to all enquiries in a timely manner can be costly, which is where chatbots & AI come in.

There are currently 12,000 monthly active bots on Facebook Messenger, and 80% of chatbots can be used efficiently to provide 24/7 customer services. This can mean huge savings for big companies from a customer service perspective, and happier consumers.

 Rethinking Twitter

 Twitter has been steadily cooling off throughout the past few years as it struggles to keep up with the big guys; Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. Twitters stagnant user growth suggests that this could turn into terminal decline, with most marketers focusing their efforts elsewhere.

So unless Twitter is already really successful for your brand, project your focuses elsewhere for now!
